WHAT IS THE USE OF NET MEETING IN OPERATING SYSTEM. WHAT IS INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING?

What is the use of net meeting in operating system?
ANSWER
Netmeeting is a feature of Windows XP operating system that allows for video conferencing. It allows people to connect from NetMeeting on their computer to a specific (instructor's) computer to view that computer's desktop. That is, when Net meeting is configured, an instructor or trainer in a completely different location can communicate with participants in their respective places or offices.
Microsoft Net meeting was a VoIP and multi-point videoconferencing client included in many versions of Microsoft Windows (from Windows 95 OSR2 to Windows XP). It used the H.323 protocol for videoconferencing, and was interoperable with OpenH323-based clients such as Ekiga, and Internet Locator Service (ILS) as reflector. It also used a slightly modified version of the T.120 Protocol for whiteboarding, application sharing (by extension, desktop sharing), and file transfers.
Its main work is video conferencing.

What is Internet connection sharing
ANSWER
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is a built-in feature of Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 2000, and Windows Me that provides networked computers with the ability to share a single connection to the Internet. It is a virtual network router that is located inside any computer that is running "Windows XP" and higher. It allows you to attach a new/additional computer to your local area network by attaching it to an existing Internet-connected computer.
Internet Connection Sharing allows you and others on your local area network (LAN) to perform different tasks simultaneously though they are all connected to the same computer having access to the internet.  As one person browses the internet, the other can download a file while another might still send and receive e-mail simultaneously. It also makes room for web programs like Microsoft Netmeeting etc. Connected devices and software have comprehensive protocol support. Eg, you can play Internet games without additional configuration;you can use Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) to gain access to your corporate network.
ICS has the following features:
·         Network Address Translation (NAT):This is a feature that maps a group or groups of private IP addresses to a group or groups of public IP addresses. It translates private IP address to public IP address, vice versa.
·         Domain Name Server/Service (DNS): It is a feature that that resolves name of local hosts to IP addresses. Connected devices receive transparent network configuration by using Domain Name System to resolve Internet names.
·         Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP):This is a feature that assigns IP addresses to local hosts dynamically/automatically.
·         Application programming interfaces (APIs):This is used for configuration, status, and dial control for programs.
·         Auto-dial:A program that automatically dials connections.

·         To set up Internet Connection Sharing:
·         A computer known as the gateway that provides internet connection to all other computers on the network must be present. This computer must be running Windows 2000, Windows 98 Second Edition, or Windows Me. Internet Connection Sharing must be enabled on it.
·          Other Windows computers having internet connection sharing must be present.
·         There must be TCP/IP software and internet browser software installed in each of the devices.
·         There must be a connection between these computers and network device like hubs will be present.
·         There must be a modem for the network.
